Interfaith Encounters: A Binkley Baptist Church School Course

Chapel Hill, NC — The Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church launched its Christian Formation programmatic year on September 9th, which includes a variety of ministries and educational opportunities.
Interfaith Encounters Class
Among this semester’s Church School (Sunday School) offerings is Interfaith Encounters, a course designed to facilitate two-week introductions to each of the world’s largest religions, including: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam. The Baha’i, Mormon, and Sikh faith traditions will also be covered with one week each.
Introduction to Hinduism
This Sunday, I am introducing Hinduism. Next Sunday, Fred will offer his perspective as a practitioner of the faith, answer questions, and facilitate discussion.
Fred and I have been rigorously preparing for these two weeks of Church School on our nightly walks, during our Scripture studies, and on long car rides. We’re grateful for Binkley’s interest in interfaith topics and the opportunity to share a small slice of Hinduism with our Christian community.
Benefits of Interfaith Discussion
Engagement with and support from both our Christian and Hindu communities is essential to our success as an interfaith couple.
Selfishly, too, we want everyone to discover the gold of interfaith encounters: it deepens our own understandings of God and awakens our personal faith journeys.
Come join us!
