Lesson Number 30: Birthday Reflections (Part 2 of 3)

Last August I wrote a post called, “29 Lessons in 29 Years.” At that time, I had already begun to reflect on my nearly 30 years of life–and these were the result.

It seems appropriate to amend the list today with one additional lesson.

Lesson Number 30

30. If the timing is right, don’t be afraid to leave an institutional position in order to pursue your life’s work. Take courage. Have faith. Plan well. Live your dreams.

This  Friday, April 15, 2011 (after many months of planning and preparation), I’m leaving my position at the Center for Child & Family Health (CCFH) in order to pursue freelancing writing full-time. I’m going to write articles, write a book, teach, read, and offer spiritual direction and care for others. I’m going to do what I was born to do.
